Maxi Ragamuffin, launched in 1979 as Bumblebee 4, started her racing life with outright line honours in that year's Sydney to Hobart. In the early 80s she was the yacht to beat, setting new standards for international racing both in handicap and line honours. In 1983, she was renamed Ragamuffin and set about malting her mark in Australia by winning such classics as the Hamilton Island Race Week of 1984 and subsequently gaining Sydney to Hobart line honours in 1988 and 1990 plus being placed second once (1986) and third twice (1985 and 1989). After winning the Sydney to Mooloolaba race in 1994, she was converted into a sensational day charter yacht. Most recent racing achievments include winning the Great Whitsunday Fun Race in 1996, 1997, 1998, 2000 and 2003 and achieving the coveted line and handicap double in the 1998 Whitsunday Vista Cup.
